Meet the Markham Goose! We found this Canada goose hanging out in a hospital parking lot in Markham, Ontario, and I ended up spending half an afternoon camped out by the car with him. Canada geese have a reputation for being a bit aggressive, but this guy couldn’t have cared less about the people and cars around him. He was just doing his thing in the grass like it was his own personal lawn.

Fair warning, all those layers of leaves and grass nearly broke me when I was painting this one, and I have a feeling they’re going to give you a run for your money too! 😅 Grab a hot drink and settle in, because this is a cozy afternoon (or three).

I painted this one live on our weekly Draw With Me stream! Come hang out with us Thursdays at 7pm ET at theuglycat.com/live.

ABOUT ME

I'm Catherine Hébert, an artist based in Montréal. I've spent almost two decades in visual effects, working on films and TV as a concept artist and eventually a VFX supervisor. But I never stopped illustrating, so I started The Ugly Cat Studio to share the work I actually want to make.
