🍊 Clementines! 🍊
One of the best things about winter in Montreal is clementine season. They show up everywhere, and suddenly my kitchen counter is covered in these little orange things that are impossible not to eat by the handful.
I set up this still life after peeling a few and realizing how good the peels looked scattered around. The bright orange against the neutral background just worked. Plus I got to eat clementines while painting clementines, which felt very efficient.
Winter in Montreal is grey and cold, so having a bowl of something this bright and cheerful sitting around actually makes a difference. Small things, you know?
