PLEASE NOTE:
We can confirm that orders to US and Canadian customers are tariff free, both for greeting cards shipped from our studio in Montreal, as well as prints and frames from our partner studio in Kentucky.
The information on this post is for historical interest only now.
UPDATE on March 4, 2025: Well, the tariffs have been implemented.
We are going to work with our partners and suppliers to try and minimize any impact to our customers. For the moment we are stopping sales of pre-framed prints to Canada, and of greeting cards to the United States. All other prints are shipping normally, tariff free.
UPDATE on March 3, 2025: The US administration has indicated that tariffs on Canadian goods will go into effect on March 4, 2025. We are monitoring the situation and will update as needed.
UPDATE on Feb 14, 2025: Tariffs have now been delayed until April 1, so still business as usual for the Studio!
UPDATE on Feb 3, 2025: The US government has decided to "pause" tariffs on Canada for 30 days. Canadian counter-tariffs will be removed as well. So for the moment it's business as usual for The Ugly Cat Studio.
If and when this changes we will update this post again.
Original post from Feb 2:
There’s been a lot of talk about tariffs between the US and Canada lately, and we know some of our customers may be wondering what this means for them. While it’s still an evolving situation, we want to share what we know so far.
For the moment we don’t expect these tariffs to have an immediate impact on our customers. We work with a variety of print studio partners in different countries, and we’re doing what we can to keep things running smoothly and avoid extra costs for both our US and Canadian customers.
That said, trade policies can shift, and it’s possible that things could change. We are keeping a close eye on the situation and will update this post if needed.
For now, we’re continuing business as usual, and we’ll do our best to make any transitions as smooth as possible.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to chat.
Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you posted.
