How We Package Your Art Prints
by Catherine Hébert — The Ugly Cat Studio, Montréal
A Quick Look Inside the Studio
The photo above shows a freshly delivered mailing tube—just arrived from one of our print studio partners—and a few prints getting ready for packing. It’s not fancy, but this is where the magic (and the tape) happens.
How We Pack Prints
Smaller prints are shipped flat in rigid mailers with a recycled backing board to keep them protected and unbent. Larger prints are gently rolled with acid-free tissue and packed in sturdy kraft tubes with plastic end caps.
We try to ship flat whenever it’s safe to do so—but for bigger formats or international routes, tubes are the more reliable option.
Framed prints are available in Canada and the US, and ship in sturdy boxes designed to protect both glass and frame.
Greeting cards ship directly from our studio in Montréal.

Where It’s Printed—and Why That Matters
We work with trusted fine-art studios—currently in Paris, London, and the United States. Each one stocks a carefully chosen set of cotton papers and archival pigment inks that align with our standards and handles fulfilment for its region. That means:
-
Less travel time — Your order ships from the closest lab.
-
Lower carbon miles — Fewer borders crossed.
-
Real-time updates — You’ll get tracking as soon as your parcel is on its way.
Unrolling Made Easy
When a big print arrives, uncap the tube, slip the tissue off, and lay the print face-down on a clean surface. Place two art books on the back corners for about an hour. The curl relaxes on its own with no risk of creasing.
Final Word
Whether your art ships flat or rolled, the goal is the same: it lands on your doorstep looking exactly like it did on my desk—ready for a frame and a new wall.
