Each of our art prints is made to order. The Ugly Cat works with a variety of fine art print studios across North America and Europe, to ensure the highest possible quality.

Gicée printing (from the French meaning "to spray"), is an ink-jet printing technique that allows more vibrant colours, and archival quality robustness, designed to last.

Please note: We make every effort to ensure that the images on the site faithfully represent their true colours of our art prints. However, electronic screens can't faithfully reproduce printed ink, so there may be differences in colour. Each screen has different settings, like brightness and contrast, which can also lead to differences between the final prints and what you see on screen.

Hahnemühle German Etching®

The print is on archival quality 310gsm Hahnemühle German Etching paper, which is a traditional mould-made copperplate printing paper. The paper has a unique textured surface, which goes well with watercolour style artwork!

5×7 in (13×18 cm)

Perfect for small shelves, tight corners, or as part of a gallery wall. These are also great for gifting and easy to frame in standard off-the-shelf frames.

8×10 in (24×30 cm)

Great for smaller spaces like desk nooks, shelves, or gallery wall fillers. Easy to mix and match, and fits in standard store-bought frames.

12×16 in (30×40 cm)

A versatile mid-size option that works well in entryways, hallways, or above a side table. Big enough to stand alone but also great paired with other pieces.

16×20 in (40×50 cm)

Makes more of a statement. Ideal for feature walls, mantels, or anchoring a room with one bold piece. A good size when you want the details to really show.

All sizes refer to the physical dimensions of the paper. Our prints do not include white borders—they're designed to run edge-to-edge for a clean, contemporary look. Each one is printed on heavyweight, archival-quality fine art paper using museum-grade pigment inks, so they stay crisp and vibrant for years to come.

Frame It Your Way

Our frames are made from solid oak and built to go with the artwork—not distract from it. The slim moulding measures 1.8 cm wide by 2.6 cm deep, which gives a clean profile on the wall without feeling flimsy. Each one has tempered glass (1–2 mm thick) for clear, durable protection.

They come in four finishes: black, white, oak, and walnut. Whether you like a soft contrast or something that blends in, there’s probably a frame that fits the space. Prints show up already mounted and ready to hang—no tools or setup needed. Just unwrap and put it on the wall!

Right now, frames are only available in the US and Canada. We're looking into making them available in more regions, and will share updates if and when that becomes possible!

Smaller prints are securely packaged in a rigid, flat cardboard envelope, with additional protective layers to ensure they arrive in pristine condition. This sturdy packaging prevents bending, creasing, or any other damage during shipping.

Larger prints are gently rolled, wrapped in protective paper, and placed inside a heavy-duty cardboard tube. The tube is designed to withstand rough handling and provide maximum protection, keeping the artwork safe until it is ready to be displayed.

We offer free shipping on all art prints, both framed and unframed. For greeting cards and other items, shipping costs will be calculated and shown at checkout.

Processing time: All orders are made to order and processed within 1–3 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) after you receive your order confirmation email. Please note that our printing partners are closed between Christmas and New Year’s Day, so no orders are processed during that period.

Shipping time: For most art prints and frames, delivery typically takes 5–7 business days within Canada, the USA, the UK, and Europe, depending on your location and which of our printing partners fulfills the order. Shipping outside these regions may take longer. Greeting cards and limited edition prints are shipped directly from our studio in Montréal.

Customs and duties: Countries outside Canada, the USA, the UK, and the European Economic Area may charge import duties or fees. Please check with your local customs office for more details, as The Ugly Cat Studio is not responsible for these charges.

You’ll receive a notification email with tracking information as soon as your order ships.

Fine art prints are best handled with care—avoid touching the printed surface and hold them by the edges or use clean cotton gloves to prevent fingerprints and scratches. While we use archival inks designed to resist fading, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight can still wash out colours, so framing with UV-protective glass or acrylic is recommended, especially for bright rooms.

Keep your prints away from humid or damp areas like bathrooms or kitchens, as moisture can cause warping or rippling. If you’re not ready to display your print, store it flat in a cool, dry place between acid-free sheets to keep it pristine.
